Trimellitic anhydride, 1,2,4-Benzenetricarboxylic anhydride. The molecular formula is C9H4O5. The appearance is white flake or powder. The melting point of trimellitic anhydride is 168℃ and the boiling point is 390℃. Trimaric anhydride dissolved in hot water and acetone, 2-J ketone, dimethylformamide, ethyl acetate, cyclohexanone. It is soluble in anhydrous ethanol and reacts, and slightly soluble in carbon tetrachloride and toluene. Trimellitic anhydride is mainly used as curing agent of epoxy resin, and can also be used in the production of plasticizer, coating, insulating paint, surfactant and so on.
Triisooctyl trimelate (TOTM) is produced by esterification reaction of trimelate anhydride and 2-ethylhexanol. TOTM plasticizer has the advantages of good fluidity, heat resistance (high flash point), low volatility, high electrical properties, resistance to all kinds of solvent extraction, and small resistance to migration. It can meet the requirements of 90℃, 105℃, 125℃ grade heat resistant cable and high voltage cable plastic sheath.
A new water-soluble alkyd resin coating can be obtained by the reaction of phthalic anhydride with dialcohol monoglyceride, hexanediol, propylene glycol, neopentyl glycol and other dialcohols, which can be used as electrophoretic primer for automobiles, refrigerators and washing machines.
When used as curing agent of epoxy resin, trimellitic anhydride has high reactivity and can cure epoxy resin in a short time. The surfactant with excellent surface activity can be prepared by mono-double esterification of trimellitic anhydride and fatty alcohols such as lauryl alcohol and octadecyl alcohol, and then the free carboxyl group on trimellitic anhydride is neutralized by NaOH.
Phenylimide resin made from trimalic anhydride can be heated at 250 ~ 300℃ for a long time. It can be used to manufacture molded plastic parts such as electrical components, valves, bearings and jet engine parts. In addition, phthalic anhydride is widely used in aviation lubricants, dyes, inks, pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals. Products made with anhydride are used in electric wires and cables, automobile interior decoration, artificial leather, washing machine drainage hose, blinds, handbags, sealing materials and fillers, etc.
