Product Description
Microbial Control: Used to control sulfate-reducing bacteria and other unwanted microorganisms in selected industrial systems.
Water Solubility: Can be incorporated into aqueous treatment programs, with compatibility evaluated for the specific process.
Support for MIC Control: Helps manage microorganisms associated with microbiologically influenced corrosion as part of a suitable treatment program.
THPS delivers robust microbial control in challenging environments, supporting operational efficiency and regulatory compliance:
Oil and Gas: Controls bacterial growth in drilling fluids, fracturing operations, produced water, and injection systems to prevent H₂S souring, reservoir plugging, and MIC in pipelines and tanks.
Industrial Water Treatment: Inhibits biofilm formation in cooling towers, boilers, and process water loops, enhancing heat transfer and reducing downtime in power plants, refineries, and manufacturing facilities.
Pulp and Paper: Prevents slime deposits on machinery and in whitewater systems, improving paper quality and machine runnability while meeting hygiene standards.
Wastewater Management: Targets anaerobic bacteria in digesters and effluents, aiding odor control and treatment efficacy in municipal and industrial plants.

Note: Technical and custom concentrations (50-75%) available. Each batch is analyzed for microbial efficacy and heavy metals (≤10 ppm total).
Review the current SDS for the supplied concentration before handling.
Avoid skin and eye contact and inhalation of mist. Use suitable protective equipment and ventilation as specified in the SDS.
Keep containers tightly closed and follow the stated storage conditions and compatibility requirements.
Follow the product SDS and site procedures for first aid, spills, disposal and transport. Prevent uncontrolled release to the environment.
THPS (CAS 55566-30-8) is a quaternary phosphonium biocide supplied as an aqueous solution. Its structure features four hydroxymethyl groups on a phosphorus center paired with sulfate, enabling potent antimicrobial action through cell membrane disruption.
THPS is mainly used in oil and gas for souring prevention and corrosion control, industrial water systems for biofilm inhibition, and pulp/paper processes for slime control. It excels in environments prone to SRB and fungal growth.
THPS can degrade under suitable conditions, but concentrated solutions still present health and aquatic hazards. Biodegradability does not mean the product is harmless or suitable for unrestricted discharge. Follow the supplied SDS and applicable treatment and discharge requirements.
THPS is commonly supplied as a 75% aqueous solution. The treatment dose depends on the application, microbial contamination, water chemistry and contact time. Confirm whether any stated dosage refers to active THPS or the supplied solution, and establish the treatment program through appropriate testing and product-label instructions.
Store in cool, sealed containers away from incompatibles. Handle with PPE to avoid skin/eye contact, and ensure proper ventilation. Shelf life is 24 months when protected from light and heat.
