Product Description
Diethyl sulfate, CAS 64-67-5, is a clear, colorless oily liquid used as an ethylating agent in organic synthesis. It introduces ethyl groups into selected phenols, amines and thiols.
Because the product reacts with water and is classified as a hazardous chemical, grade selection, handling and transportation should follow the product-specific TDS and SDS.
| Item | Reference Specification |
|---|---|
| Appearance | Colorless clear liquid |
| Assay by GC | ≥99.5% |
| Specific Gravity at 30°C | 1.171–1.175 |

The values above represent a common commercial grade. Final specifications and test methods are confirmed through the quotation and batch COA.
Typical packaging: 230 kg or 250 kg compatible drum.
IBC packaging is subject to product compatibility and dangerous-goods transport requirements.
Store dry, tightly closed and in a well-ventilated area.
Protect from moisture and separate from incompatible materials.
Final packaging, net weight and transport documents are confirmed with the quotation. Refer to the latest SDS before handling or shipment.
Before ordering diethyl sulfate, confirm:
Required assay and test method
Limits for water, free acidity and color
Packaging type and net weight
Destination and transport route
Required TDS, SDS, COA and shipping documents
Ethylation of selected phenols, amines and thiols
Preparation of ethyl derivatives
Laboratory and industrial alkylation reactions
Dyes and pigment intermediates
Textile chemical intermediates
Selected pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates
Specialty chemical synthesis
Accelerator in the sulfation of ethylene
Selected sulfonation processes
Process development and laboratory synthesis
These applications refer to controlled chemical synthesis. Diethyl sulfate is not intended for direct addition to food, pharmaceutical or consumer products.
It is mainly used as an ethylating agent in the manufacture of dyes, pigments, textile chemicals and selected pharmaceutical, agrochemical and specialty chemical intermediates.
It should not simply be described as water-insoluble. Diethyl sulfate reacts with water and moisture, eventually producing ethanol and sulfuric acid.
Please provide the required assay, quantity, packaging, destination, intended application and document requirements.
Yes. It is commonly transported as UN 1594, Class 6.1, Packing Group II. Packaging and shipping arrangements must be confirmed for the destination and transport route.
For a diethyl sulfate quotation, please provide the required specification, quantity, packaging, destination country or port, intended application and document requirements.
